Evanston Chamber Music Society Hosts 2024 Finale With Timothy Chooi

The acclaimed violinist and Fil-Am Baroque Ensemble are set to perform Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" on Dec. 20 at First Presbyterian Church.

The Evanston Chamber Music Society is proud to present its 2024 Concert Season Finale featuring the superstar violinist Timothy Chooi and the Fil-Am Baroque Ensemble on December 20th at 7 pm in the Main Sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of Evanston on Chicago Avenue.

Mr. Chooi has been praised for his “tonal beauty and nuance” by the Herald-Tribune Sarasota, and called “The Miracle” by La Presse- Montreal.

Currently a professor of violin at University of Ottawa in Canada, the Canadian-American virtuoso enjoys a highflying career crisscrossing the globe and performing with some of the most prestigious orchestras at some of the most illustrious venues in the world such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Proms in London, as well as all the stages of New York City’s Carnegie Hall.

He lends his expertise in leading the newly formed Fil-Am (short for Filipino-American) Baroque Ensemble in its debut performance in Vivaldi’s epic work, The Four Seasons.

This ensemble was founded by (Evanston resident) Steinway Artist and Artistic Director Victor Santiago Asunción as the ensemble-in-residence at FilAm Music Foundation NFP which is based in Evanston, and whose aim is to promote young classical musicians of Filipino descent through scholarship and performance.

Members of this ensemble include Civic Orchestra of Chicago fellow Marian Mayuga, and Haddon Kay of the award winning Galvin Cello Quartet.

Their young colleagues are no less accomplished and are currently studying in prestigious graduate schools including the Glen Gould School in Toronto, as well as the North Carolina School for the Arts.

Tickets to this concert are $40 for General Admission and $20 for Students with a valid ID.

Free parking is available at the Church Lot. It is also Metra and Purple Line accessible.
