Evanston Fire and Police Departments Holding 9/11 Ceremony

The event will take place at 7:30 a.m. at Fireman's Park.

The following is from the City of Evanston:

The Evanston Fire and Police Departments will hold a memorial ceremony to honor the brave men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The City will also recognize the brave men and women of the U. S. Armed Forces who have lost their lives, as well as honor those who continue to fight the war on terror.

The memorial service will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Firemen’s Park, located at the corner of Simpson St. and Maple Ave.

This will be a brief ceremony of remembrance. The presenters will be:

  • Evanston’s Police Department Honor Guard, “Posting of the Colors”
  • Maple Conn, “National Anthem”
  • Fire Chief Gregory Klaiber, “Introductions”
  • Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl
  • Fire Chaplain David Jones
  • Evanston’s Fire Department Honor Guard, “Fireman’s Prayer”
  • Evanston’s Fire Department Honor Guard, “Bell Ceremony”
  • Evanston’s Police Department Honor Guard, “Retrieving the Colors”

Everyone is invited to attend. Parking will be limited.
