Evanston Flood Watch: What To Know
Rain is expected to fall at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
EVANSTON, IL — Evanston is under flood watch due to excessive rainfall expected Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected to start after 1 p.m., and rain is expected to fall at rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. In addition to increased runoff potential due to urban land cover in the Chicago Metropolitan Area, near surface soil moisture in some areas is elevated due to recent rainfall.
Forecasters warned that creeks and streams may rise out of their banks and underpasses may be flooded.
