Evanston Gun Buyback: Residents Get $100 Per Gun
This no-arrest event is meant to make communities safer while providing a good bit of holiday cash for residents.

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston police are running a gun buyback event Saturday in partnership with Moms Demand Action of Evanston. Any citizens with guns can turn them in for cash, the release says.
The event lasts from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Uniterian Church in the 1300 block of Ridge Avenue.
It's an amnesty-based programs and there will be no arrests.

The gun must be unloaded and operational, and have all of its parts. They must be transported in a case, bag, box or another supporting item, police said in a release. The trunk of your car is also acceptable.
You must have an ID and be a resident of Evanston, Skokie or the Northside of Chicago.

Police are paying $100 per gun. The event is first come, first served. Not bad for a little holiday cash.
Police run this event as a way to give an opportunity for those at risk to start making better choices and to give citizens a chance to make their homes safer in preventing them from being stolen or misused.
