Evanston Man Cited for Off-Menu Pot Brownies at Sandwich Shop

A 22-year-old employee at the business told Wilmette police he made and ate the brownies on the premises after closing time.

A 22-year-old Evanston man was ticketed early Friday morning for possession of marijuana after he admitted to baking and eating pot brownies at a Wilmette sandwich shop, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

The man, who works at the sandwich shop in the 100 block of Green Bay Road, told police he made the brownies after the business had closed, the report stated, adding that three other employees also were present and appeared to be impaired. Those employees were not ticketed, according to the report.

Wilmette police stumbled upon the brownie tasting when officers noticed the shop’s lights on and door open at around 1:15 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13, the Tribune reported.

The officers confiscated the brownies, according the report. The fine for the citation is $100, the report added.
