Evanston Native Tori Franklin Competes In Triple Jump At Her Second Olympic Games
The 31-year-old Downers Grove South and Michigan State alum now lives full-time in Greece.

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston native Tori Franklin competed in her second Olympic games Friday, coming up just a few centimeters short of qualifying for the finals in the triple jump.
Franklin, who transferred from Glenbrook North High School to Downers Grove South, was named to Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics after finishing third at the U.S. Trials in June.
The top 12 finishers in Friday's qualification round at the Stade de France advanced to Saturday's final.

Franklin managed a jump of 14.02 meters, just 3 cm short of the final qualifier, putting her in 14th place.
At the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, she finished 25th. And her personal record, an American record when she reached in 2018, is 14.84 meters.

Franklin is also the first American woman ever to win a triple jump medal in a world championship, taking home a bronze medal in 2022.
At this year's world championships in March, Franklin tore her planter fascia but still managed to earn a bronze at the U.S. trials.
Franklin, a Michigan State University graduate who now lives in Greece, is also a motivational speaker, a master reiki practitioner, author and the co-founder and CEO of a Chicago nonprofit.
