Evanston Running Club Members at Boston Are OK
Approximately 14 people from the Evanston Running Club traveled to Boston to run the marathon yesterday. All are safe and accounted for following the explosions, according to president Al White.
More than a dozen people from the Evanston Running Club who traveled to Boston to run the marathon Monday are safe and accounted for after the explosions that killed at least three people and injured many more, according to running club president Al White.
"I believe we had about 14 runners there all of whom have been accounted for and are uninjured," White told Patch via e-mail. "At this point I'm not sure if they were able to leave Boston by plane so I have not heard directly from any of them."

Among those runners was Evanston resident Nancy Rollins, who told the Evanston Review that she heard the explosions and saw the smoke not long after she finished.
"It is like something so joyful and positive, and for it to be used for terror, and evil, it’s really upsetting," she told the Review. "It breaks my heart.”

Fellow Evanston resident Kevin Valentine also saw the blasts shortly after he crossed the finish line, according to the Daily Northwestern.
"I was 10 minutes finished when I saw the smoke go off and heard it," Valentine told the Daily. "There were worried-looking volunteers, and they shooed us all away."
