Evanston Schools Close Buildings Due To 'Severe Weather Conditions'
Evanston Township High School and Evanston/Skokie District 65 announced Friday will be an e-learning day.

EVANSTON, IL — Public schools in Evanston are closed Friday due to severe winter weather.
Evanston/Skokie School District 65 and Evanston Township High School are shuttering school buildings and shifting to an e-learning day, which does not need to be made up at the end of the year, administrators announced.
"Based on the extreme cold with windchills reaching -35 below, high winds, and blowing snow, travel is expected to be hazardous," District 65 Superintendent Devon Horton said in a message to families. "This decision was made with safety in mind and to provide as much notice as possible so that the necessary arrangements can be made."
