Evanston Township High School SAT Scores Continue Downward Trend
The share of ETHS students who meet or exceed state English and math standards has fallen every year since at least 2017, state data shows.

EVANSTON, IL — Test scores continued to decline at Evanston Township High School during the 2021-22 school year, newly released data from state education officials shows.
The Illinois State Board of Education on Thursday released its report card for for public school districts across the state, with information about academic performance, teachers, students, administrators and school environment.
The report cards include the last five years of SAT test results, with 2020 excluded due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At ETHS, the proportion of 11th grade students who meet state standards has declined in both mathematics and English language arts in each of those years.
For the 2021-22 school year, 48.8 percent of juniors met or exceeded SAT standards in English.

That marks a decline from 52.2 percent in both 2021 and 2019, 55.8 percent in 2018 and 58.6 percent in 2017.
In math, 42.2 percent of ETHS 11th graders met or exceeded state proficiency standards last year, compared to 47.2 percent in 2021, 49.7 percent in 2019, 51.9 percent in 2018 and 55.4 percent in 2017.
Five years ago, 21.2 percent of ETHS students exceeded proficiency on the SAT. Last year, the number had fallen to just 11.4 percent.
Test scores at ETHS are still better than the state average. Last year, just 29.8 percent of students met or exceeded English standards and just 28.8 percent met math proficiency standards.
ETHS has about 3,700 students, with the one-school district spending nearly $24,000 per student per year, according to the state data.
There is one ETHS administrator for every 119 students, compared to a state average of 147 students per administrator.
The student-to-teacher ratio is 15:1, better than the state average of 18:1. But the district's certified staff-to-student ratio was 10:1, compared to a state average of 9:1.
