Evanston Transitions To New Waste Collection Company
The transition to the new waste management company will take effect Nov. 1.

EVANSTON, IL — A new waste management company will be collecting garbage in Evanston starting in November, officials announced.
On July 14, the Evanston City Council awarded a new contract to Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) to provide refuse and yard waste services for residential households. The transition from the current provider, Groot, will take effect on Nov. 1.
"We are excited to work with LRS, enabling us to continue providing reliable and high-quality refuse and yard waste services for our community members," said Public Works Agency Director Edgar Cano. "The City is dedicated to facilitating a smooth transition for our community members and will strive to ensure minimal disruption to their services throughout this process."

Single-family households, multi-family properties with five units or fewer and condominium properties enrolled in the city's condo program will be included in the new service. Collection days will remain the same.
While rates are expected to stay the same, they are subject to change, according to officials. Billing will still be managed by the city.
