15 Evanston Runners Finished Marathon Before Explosions
Several people were injured and at least two people died following two explosions near the finish line in Boston.
Update, 4:39 p.m.: According to the Boston Athletic Association website, there were 19 entrants from Evanston, including Nancy Rollins of the Evanston Running Club.
Among the 19 entrants from Evanston, 15 people finished the marathon before the explosions, all with times under four hours.
Entrants with no finish times include Christopher P. Nemeth, Christopher Schmidt, Allison Sweeney and Nancy Owens. The Boston Athletic Association shows no splits recorded along the course for Nemeth or Schmidt, indicating they may not have run the race at all.

Owens' last recorded split was at the 25 kilometer mark, more than three-quarters of the way through the marathon, when race organizers recorded a time of 2:25:37. Sweeney's last recorded split was at the 30 kilometer mark, a time of 4:15:57.

Update, 3:30 p.m.: Time Magazine is reporting that two people have been killed and 22 are injured as a result of the explosions at the Boston Marathon.

The Boston Globe is reporting that there were two explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
According to CNN, the explosions injured at least a half-dozen people. The explosions occurred a few seconds apart at about 2:45 p.m., according to CNN.
The Boston Marathon headquarters is on lockdown, according to Reuters.
Boston Marathon officials shared this message on Facebook: "There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today's Boston Marathon. We are working with law enforcement to understand what exactly has happened."
The Boston Marathon website shows that 974 people from Illinois are participating in this year's event, including 19 from Evanston.
