Federal Immigration Agents Reported In Evanston: Report

According to reports, federal agents were in Evanston on Wednesday carrying out a criminal warrant.

EVANSTON, IL — Federal immigration agents were reported in Evanston Wednesday according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

In an email obtained by the Tribune, Homeland Security notified Evanston police that federal agents would be in the area of Church Street and Brown Avenue. The Evanston Police Department advised Homeland Security that officers would not assist or interfere with any federal action.

Deputy City Manager Carina E. Sanchez told the Tribune said law enforcement officers associated with federal vehicles nearly received a parking citation. The ticket was not issued because the individuals identified themselves to parking enforcement as law enforcement.
