Every Tuesday in August, dozens of Evanston retailers and restaurants will donate 5% of their sales to Connections for the Homeless, Youth Job Center, and the YWCA Evanston/North Shore. See the full list of participating businesses online

Donate Your Old Books to Boocoo
Boocoo is accepting donated books for its community book wall. Especially needed: books on music, arts and literature.

Give Crime a Going Away Party
Celebrate National Night Out Against Crime with a movie screening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Penny Park. The theme: "Give Neighborhood Crime and Drugs a Going Away Party."
