Fire At City Building In Evanston Park Under Investigation

Firefighters were called to Bent Park early Friday morning, fire officials said.

EVANSTON, IL — Authorities are investigating the cause of an early-morning fire at a public building in a northwest Evanston park.

Firefighters were dispatched to Horace E. Bent Park around 5:30 a.m. Friday, after getting reports of visible flames emerging from the roof of a brick building on the south end of the park, according to fire officials.

The first fire crews to arrive quickly extinguished the fire from within the building, minimizing damage to the structure, according to an Evanston fire department spokesperson.

Fire departments from other suburban communities assisted with the response and were on hand to respond to other calls in Evanston.

No word on the estimated amount of damage was immediately available from fire department representatives. No injuries were reported in the incident.
