Fun with Forensics at Oakton Community College
Oakton Community College is offering Forensics II, a 16-week class that explores forensic science techniques, starting Jan. 21.

Those seeking to tap into their inner “CSI” character can take a new forensics course offered at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines and Skokie.
The class, entitled Forensics II provides hands-on experience using alternate light sources and solid-state lasers, according to a school news release.
Topics include techniques in the examination of blood splatter, ballistics, and impression evidence, along with procedures in forensics mapping and the use of GPS for outdoor crime scenes, the release states.

The 16-week course meets 2:30-5:20 p.m. Thursdays, starting Jan. 21, at Oakton’s Des Plaines campus, located at 1600 E. Golf Road. The prerequisite for this dynamic course will be waved for this semester only, the release states.
