Edward, Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park and Skokie hospitals earned Magnet status once again, affirming their excellence in nursing care.

EVANSTON, IL — Five hospitals operated by Endeavor Health in the Chicago suburbs have once again achieved the gold standard in nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Edward Hospital, Evanston Hospital, Glenbrook Hospital, Highland Park Hospital and Skokie Hospital have all achieved Magnet redesignation, a sign of excellence in patient care and nursing practice.
“This accomplishment is a testament to the extraordinary compassion, expertise and collaboration of our nurses,” said John Tressa, the system chief nursing executive at Endeavor Health.

Magnet designation is awarded following a rigorous process that evaluates leadership, innovation and commitment to evidence-based care. According to the American Nurses Credentialing Center, hospitals with Magnet status typically demonstrate improved patient outcomes, higher patient and staff satisfaction, shorter hospital stays and lower mortality rates.
“Magnet recognition is more than an award — it symbolizes the shared voices of our Clinical Nurses in how we approach patient care, develop our team members, foster innovation and continually improve outcomes for our patients," Tressa said. "I am immensely proud of the work we do together to achieve this honor.”

Edward Hospital achieved its fifth consecutive Magnet designation, earning specific praise for its exemplary nursing practices and patient outcomes, while Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park and Skokie hospitals all celebrated their fourth consecutive redesignations.
Endeavor Health’s other hospitals, including Elmhurst, Northwest Community and Swedish Hospitals, are in the early stages of applying for redesignation, with results anticipated in 2025. These efforts, hospital officials said, align with a system-wide focus on professional development, innovation, and sustained excellence in patient care.
The announcement comes a year after NorthShore University HealthSystem rebranded as Endeavor after its merger with Edward-Elmhurst Health, forming the third-largest health system in Illinois
The combined nonprofit organization now serves more than 4.2 million residents across the Chicagoland area. It has nine hospitals and more than 300 care sites, eight of which are Magnet-designated.
“Together, our 27,000-plus team members, as part of one team, are driven by our commitment — our Endeavor — to set a new standard for healthcare," President and CEO J.P. Gallagher said, at the time of the rebranding announcement, "by delivering a truly personal patient experience combined with seamless access to pioneering, world-class care.”
