Homeless Centralia Man Sexually Assaulted Evanston Woman: Police

Authorities say the victim also suffered facial injuries during the attack.

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston police charged a downstate man on sexual assault charges, accusing him of assaulting a woman on Chicago Avenue. Loren Brown, 19, is a homeless man residing in Centralia, the Evanston Police Department said, accused of the assault.

According to the Evanston Police Department, a 19-year-old Evanston woman was walking in the 100 block of Chicago Avenue on July 26 around 2:15 a.m.

Brown physically and sexually assaulted the victim, police say. She suffered facial injuries as a part of the attack.

On Aug. 30, investigators secured a warrant for Brown's arrest. That day, he was arrested by Centralia police. The day after, on Aug. 31, Brown was transported to the Evanston Police Department where he was officially charged with a felony count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Brown is being held at the Cook County Jail without bond. He was due in the Skokie Courthouse Wednesday, but police provided no information on his court case.
