Here are all the important dates for the 2016-2017 school year families need to know.

It's almost time for kids to head back to school. To prepare for the upcoming school year, we've compiled a list of important dates for the 2016-2017 calendar year:

Evanston Township High School District 202

  • First Day of School - Aug. 22
  • Labor Day - No School - Sept. 5
  • Non-Attendance Day for Students - Oct. 7
  • Non-Attendance Day - Oct. 12
  • Noon Dismissal For Students: In-Service Half Day - Oct. 19
  • No School: Veterans' Day - Nov. 11
  • Thanksgiving Break - Nov. 23-25
  • Early Dismissal - 2:36pm - Dec. 23
  • Winter Recess - Dec. 26-Jan. 8
  • NO SCHOOL : Martin Luther King Day of Service - Jan. 16
  • Non-Attendance Day - Jan. 23
  • Noon Dismissal for Students - Feb. 16
  • Non-Attendance Day - Feb. 17
  • NO SCHOOL: Presidents' Day - Feb. 20
  • Spring Recess - March 27-31
  • Non-Attendance Day - April 14
  • NO SCHOOL: Memorial Day - May 29
  • Semester Exams - May 30 - June 2
  • Class of 2017 Graduation Ceremony - June 4

  • Non-Attendance Day (Yom Kippur) - Oct. 12
  • Student Non-Attendance Day - Oct. 21
  • School Improvement Day- No School - Nov. 8
  • Veterans’ Day – No School - Nov. 11
  • Thanksgiving Break – No School - Nov. 23-25
  • Winter Recess - Dec. 26 - Jan. 6
  • Students Return - Jan. 9
  • MLK Day – No School - Jan. 16
  • Student Non-Attendance Day - Feb. 17
  • Presidents’ Day – No School* - Feb. 20
  • Spring Recess - March 27 - 31
  • Students Return - April 3
  • Non-Attendance Day (Good Friday) - April 14
  • Memorial Day – No School - May 29
  • Last Day of School for Students (K-8) - June 5
  • Emergency Days* - June 6-9, 12
    *The calendar includes (5) emergency days to be used in the event the district experiences an unscheduled closing (e.g., severe winter weather). The district also retains the right to use Presidents’ Day an unscheduled closing.
