Intoxicated 17-Year-Old Passed Out With Loaded Gun In Evanston Park

Officers were called to the playground at Clyde-Brummel Park on Monday morning, according to Evanston police.

EVANSTON, IL —Police said a teenager found unconscious in an Evanston park on Monday had a loaded handgun in his possession.

Officers were dispatched to Clyde-Brummel Park for a report of someone passed out on the tot lot there, according to police.

They arrived to find a 17-year-old boy who appeared to be intoxicated and did not respond to officers' attempt to wake him up.

While checking out his condition and trying to figure out his name, the officers searched a Jewel-Osco bag that appeared to be in his possession, police said in a statement.

Inside, officers reported finding a loaded .357 revolver.

The teen became alert upon the arrival of Evanston Fire Department paramedics and was able to identify himself, police said.

He was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment due to his level of intoxication before being taken to the Evanston police station, questioned by detectives and referred to juvenile court for unlawful use of a weapon.
