Man Found Dead In North Shore Channel Identified

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the body found in the water Thursday morning.

SKOKIE, IL — The man who was found dead in the North Shore Channel on Thursday has been identified as Chicago resident Roland Gross.

Gross, 45, was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, which conducted an autopsy Friday and has yet to determine the cause or manner of his death.

Illinois State Police are leading the investigation to determine how he died.

Police said Gross's body was called in shortly before 6:30 a.m. near Dempster Street.

Gross's body was reportedly discovered by members of the North Suburban Crew Juniors team, a local girls' rowing squad that had been training out of the near Dammrich Rowing Center, 3220 Oakton St.
