Man Shot In Evanston, Shooter Flees: Police

EVANSTON, IL — A man was shot Thursday afternoon and his assailant remained at large, police said.

Police responded to the 1900 block of Dempster Street, where they said a man had been shot before the shooter fled. The victim left the shooting scene in a vehicle before stopping in the 1100 block of Lake Street, where Evanston paramedics treated him and took him to a nearby hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police said they believe the shooter is no longer in the area, but asked anyone in the 1900 block of Dempster to report any suspicious activity.

Businesses and roads remained open, but there was still a large police presence in the area, police said.
