Many Musicians, 80 Artists on Lakeshore Arts Fest Lineup

Save the date for Evanston's upcoming 2016 Lakeshore Arts Fest!

City officials are encouraging residents to venture out in early August for an annual arts fest spotlighting creativity and spirit.

The annual Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival is slated for Saturday, Aug. 6 and Sunday, Aug. 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Dawes Park located on Sheridan Road at Church Street. It is free and open to the public.

The nationally recognized, juried fine arts and crafts festival showcases work from more than 80 artists in 11 categories, including photography, jewelry, painting, wood, ceramics, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet artists and purchase their work. They can also enjoy a children's craft tent and participate in silent art auctions on both days.

Attendees will also enjoy various genres of live music, including classical, all types of jazz from Cabaret to Brazilian, neo-folk, bluegrass, rockabilly, and Motown.

This year, the festival will host nine restaurants serving a variety of culinary delights, including tamales, kale burgers, salmon burgers, spicy peanut pasta, Chicago-style hot dogs, gyro sandwiches, and chocolate-covered frozen bananas.
