See what's going on this week at the Evanston Public Library.

There's lots going on at the Evanston Public Library this week, and the summer book sale is coming up in August. Mark your calendar for these events:
Teen DIY: Sewn Book Structures
Tuesday, July 23, 4-5:30 pm, The Loft, Main Library
"Using traditional bookbinding techniques, we will sew several signatures together to create a blank journal, to be filled with whatever your imagination requires."
Teen DIY: Soap Making
Wednesday, July 24, 4 pm, North Branch
"At this debut Teen DIY program teens will learn how to make their own scented soaps! Teen staff and Maker Corps interns will show you how to use different ingredients and scents to create your own bars of soap to take home! Grades 6-12."
Wednesday Family Film Night: Madagascar
Wednesday, July 24, 7 pm, Children's Services, Main Library
"A lion and zebra and two other of their pampered friends, from New York's Central Park Zoo, accidentally find themselves on a ship heading for Africa. When their vessel is hijacked, they become shipwrecked on the exotic island of Madagascar where they discover it really is a jungle out there!"
Children's Program: Travel to Hawaii
7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, Main Library
"Join us as we travel to Hawaii and learn about the culture of this distant state. We'll hear some folk tales, make a craft and learn the hula!"
Chess Night For All Ages
__7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013
_The library hosts an open, public chess night for all ages, chess sets supplied. "Go load up on summer reading, play a few games of chess, make some new friends (and meet up with old ones), enjoy the air conditioning."
Summer Book Sale August 9 - 11
Find hundreds of books, audiobooks, large print books, movies and music for sale at bargain basement prices. Purchases support the Evanston Public Library. Hours are as follows:
- Friday, August 9, 10 am to 5:30 pm (Early Bird Fee: $5, 10 am to Noon)
- Saturday, August 10, 10 am to 5:30 pm
- Sunday, August 11, 12 pm to 5:30 pm (All books half-price)
