Mayor Launches Holiday Food, Book, Toy Drive

Starting next week, Evanston residents can donate toys, children's books and holiday food items for families in need this season.

EVANSTON, IL — Mayor Daniel Biss has officially launched the annual Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive to ensure families can celebrate this holiday season.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 3, the city is collecting new, unwrapped toys in addition to staple food items for holiday meals including stuffing, green beans, yams, mac and cheese, corn, and cornbread mix. New and gently used children's books will also be accepted during the drive.

Families who wish to be recipients of the Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive can call 847-448-4311 or dial 311 while in Evanston through Dec. 1. To register, residents must live in the 60201 and 60202 area codes and provide proof of residency.

The city also welcomes financial contributions for bulk food and toy purchases through the online donation portal.
