Northwestern Lifeguard Hit by Runaway Boat, Hospitalized
The boat's driver, from a middle school camp, lost control of the boat.
A Northwestern University lifeguard was hospitalized Friday with “extensive injuries” after being hit by a runaway boat, according to an article in the Chicago Tribune.
The boat was pulling campers and counselors from a middle school camp on an inner tube when they fell off, the article says. The driver turned the boat to retrieve them when it was hit by a large wave and he was thrown in the water. The unmanned boat hit the lifeguard, a young woman, who was in the water. The boat then ran ashore.
