Use Your Artistic Talents to Inspire and Empower Others!

Skokie, IL — Are you a creative professional with experience in mosaic art and other hands-on mediums? Do you have a heart for making a difference in the lives of others? The Douglas Center is currently seeking a Part-Time Art Facilitator to join our Art From the Heart Creations® program.

This rewarding role invites you to guide adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities in creating beautiful, sellable artwork. From mosaic mirrors and greeting cards to hand-painted pieces and jewelry, your guidance will help participants express themselves, grow in confidence, and feel the pride of artistic achievement.

What You’ll Do:

  • Teach and support participants in developing artistic skills—especially in mosaic art (a core part of our program).
  • Adapt techniques to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Lead group art sessions in a creative, encouraging environment.
  • Develop project ideas that align with program goals and sellability.
  • Foster personal expression, independence, and joy through art.

Who We’re Looking For:
✅ Skilled artist with strong experience in mosaic art (required) and other mediums such as jewelry, painting, or paper crafts
✅ Passionate about using art to uplift and empower individuals of all abilities
✅ Creative, patient, and flexible in adapting projects for diverse needs
✅ Experience with adults with disabilities is a plus (training is available)
