Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Car at Lake and Oak

The 60-year-old woman was hit Tuesday night and died at the hospital Wednesday.

A 60-year-old woman from Evanston died Wednesday after being hit Tuesday evening by a car at the intersection of Lake Street and Oak Avenue, Evanston police said. The woman has not been identified.

The crash happened at about 7 p.m. when a car driving east on Lake hit the woman, police said. The victim was unresponsive at the scene and died at Evanston Hospital Wednesday morning.

The driver, a 56-year-old woman from Skokie, did not show any indications of impairment or distraction, and said she didn’t see the pedestrian until the crash, police said.

An investigation is underway to see if the victim was outside the crosswalk when hit. No charges or citations have been filed.
