Police Respond To Hazmat Incident In Evanston

An incident near Downtown Evanston on Friday morning prompted a hazmat response.

EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston Police and Fire Departments responded to a hazmat incident near downtown Friday morning.

According to authorities, it was an isolated hazmat incident at Greenwood Care, and there was no threat to the public.

Chicago Avenue was closed between Lake and Dempster Streets while authorities investigated the incident. Streets reopened to the public after about two hours around 12:30 p.m.
