Protest Planned In Evanston To Stand Against 'Would-Be Kings'
The No Kings rally in Evanston is part of a national day of action and mass mobilization that will take place on June 14.
EVANSTON, IL — Local organizers across the nation, including Evanston, are planning a rally next month to stand against perceived threats to American citizens and democracy.
Area residents are asked to gather at Fountain Square at 1601 Sherman Ave. at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 14. The rally is intended to stand against recent actions from the Trump administration and, "increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption."
"We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts," organizers said in a statement. "We’re not gathering to feed his ego. We’re building a movement that leaves him behind."
