Severe, Hazardous Weather Expected Later This Week In Evanston

Severe thunderstorms and elevated fire danger are expected to impact Evanston later this week, forecasters say.

EVANSTON, IL — Severe thunderstorms and elevated fire spread danger are predicted to roll into Evanston near the end of the week, the National Weather Service warned.

Starting Wednesday, residents should see the first signs of the incoming hazards, forecasters said, with limited thunderstorm risks and some dense fog near Lake Michigan. On Thursday, thunderstorm risk raises to level two to five, which is classified as severe.

"If thunderstorms develop, some will likely become severe with damaging hail being the greatest threat," the weather service said in a statement.
