Should Evanston Spend $2M on Fountain Square Improvements?

The fountain itself is deteriorating and traffic flow at the busy intersection can make it hard to access. Would you like to see it improved

The Evanston City Council discussed a plan this week to spend $2 million to renovate downtown’s Fountain Square and an additional $600,000 to resurface a block of nearby Orrington Avenue, according to an article in Evanston Now. The money would come from the local TIF district.

The city has already contracted with a design firm to do a visioning study for the area that would involve a large amount of public input, the article says. The fountain itself is deteriorating and the busy intersection can make it a difficult place for pedestrians to access.
