Suspect Taken To Hospital After Swallowing Evidence: Police
A suspect in a drug-related investigation was taken to the hospital after his arrest because he seemed to have swallowed the evidence.

EVANSTON, IL — Police investigating a narcotics complaint end up taking a suspect to the hospital after he seemed to have swallowed the evidence, according to police.
On Sept. 28, detectives near Church Street and Dodge Avenue were investigating a complaint after a man was seen on city cameras with bags of suspect narcotics.
"Officers captured the man and believed that he had swallowed the drugs he’d had on his person. He was immediately transported to the hospital," the police department said in a statement.

Doctors recovered the drugs, crack cocaine and cannabis according to police, at the hospital and provided additional care. According to the National Institute of Health, massive cocaine intoxication can be life-threatening.
Overstimulation of the central nervous system can cause restlessness, tremors, convulsion and respiratory and cardiovascular failure, in some cases.

Police charged the man with felony obstructing justice, possession and possession with intent. he was also charged with misdemeanor obstructing an officer. Police also recovered 24.4g of suspected crack cocaine, 77.7g of cannabis and a large amount of cash.
