'Suspicious' House Fire Displaces 2 In Evanston

The Evanston Fire Department is investigating a a house fire they say began under suspicious circumstances.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 2100 block of Jackson Avenue at 6:08 a.m. to battle a fire that blazed at a two-story home.

EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston Fire Department is investigating a residential fire, that displaced two residents on Thursday and seems to have started under "suspicious" circumstances.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 2100 block of Jackson Avenue at 6:08 a.m. to battle a fire that blazed at a two-story home. When crews arrived, they saw heavy flames had engulfed both floors.

"Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack, successfully bringing the fire under control within 30 minutes of the initial alarm," EFD said in a statement.

The home's two occupants have been displaced by the fire, but no injuries were reported according to the fire department.

The cause of the fur is still under investigation, but detectives believe it is "suspicious in nature."
