Linden Wadsworth bounced back from a first round defeat to play some of her best tennis Thursday at the Illinois High School Association state tournament.
But the Evanston senior couldn’t make it last and was eliminated with a record of 2-2 at the Class 2A competition.
Wadsworth lost to Stevenson’s Kylie Bass by a 6-0, 6-1 margin and dropped into the consolation bracket Thursday afternoon. She knocked out Anika Reddy of Quincy (6-2, 6-2) and Fiona Leakey of Champaign Central (6-0, 6-0), but couldn’t keep that momentum going and saw her season end with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat against Conant’s Elyssa Rojas Kantcheva.

Wadsworth accounted for 2 points in the team standings as Evanston tied for 31st place overall. She was the only state qualifier for the Wildkits and is one of the few female ETHS tennis players in program history to reach the state finals as both a singles and doubles participant.
