EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston History Center and Downtown Evanston have come together to inspire residents to explore the city's rich history with the launch of a self-guided walking tour.

The Downtown Evanston History Tour launched on Thursday, and it introduces participants to pivotal moments in the city's history and offers a unique way to connect with neighbors. Along the way, the tour will offer insight into places like Fountain Square, the bustling community hub that was once where Evanston's first City Hall stood.

“The corners, bricks, buildings and blocks in Downtown Evanston have layers of history and untold stories that go unseen in everyday passing by. Now with this online tour, they are available to be discovered by Evanstonians, visitors, students, and anyone who is curious to learn more about the events, people, and architecture that have built up our city," said Krista Fabian DeCastro, director of public engagement at the Evanston History Center.
