EVANSTON, IL — Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Tuesday morning on the campus of Evanston Township High School.

The woman's body was found on the north side of the school, according to Evanston police, around the time most students showed up for class.

The woman is too old to be a student at the high school, and the preliminary results of the investigation indicate that she does not work at the school either, police said in a social media post.

Police closed Church Street for more than an hour Tuesday morning to conduct the investigation.

The ETHS campus is secure, and the situation posed no danger to students, according to police.

An ETHS staff member discovered the body, according to a message from school administrators, which said neither staff nor students were in danger at any time.

“Everyone at ETHS is safe and there is no threat during the EPD investigation on campus,” it said. “ETHS classes are being held as planned.”
