Cops Respond To Stolen Car, Driver Dies After Speeding Away: EPPD
Evergreen Park officers went looking for the car when they saw it had crashed into another vehicle. Driver pronounced at Christ Hospital.
EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The driver of a car that had been reported stolen died Tuesday morning after he crashed into another vehicle, Evergreen Park police said.
Around 8:36 a.m., Evergreen Park officers responded to a Flock hit for an allegedly stolen vehicle at Speedway Gas Station, 3040 W. 95th St. As officers approached the vehicle, police said a woman exited the vehicle and entered the gas station. Police said the man fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed eastbound on 95th Street.
The woman was detained by police at Speedway, while officers went looking for the vehicle. The vehicle was spotted at the intersection of 95th Street and Campbell Avenue, where it had crashed into another vehicle, police said.

The injured driver was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the struck vehicle was taken to OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The woman with the man was charged with criminal trespassing into a motor vehicle.
The Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART) was activated and is assisting in the investigation. The identification of the deceased is pending notification of the family.
