EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Evergreen Public Park Library Board of Trustees is seeking residents over age 18 who wish to be considered for appointment to fill a board vacancy. Interested candidates must reside in Evergreen Park. The deadline to apply is June 10.

During the April 1 election, only three candidates ran for four open seats.

The board of trustees meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Library trustee responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish Library policies.
  • Adopt annual budget, appropriation and levy.
  • Advocate for the Library in the community and with elected officials.
  • Conduct long range planning for library services in the context of established standards of service.
  • Oversee performance of the Library Director and maintenance of library facilities, and plan for replacement or expansion as needed.

The appointed trustee will serve until the next Illinois consolidated election in 2027.
