Honorary Daniel V. Capuano Avenue Dedicated to Fallen Chicago, Evergreen Park Fireman

Capuano's daughter did the honors Friday of dedicating the Mount Greenwood street to her father.

A Mount Greenwood avenue now exudes the honorable memory of a 15-year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department who died late last year battling a South Chicago warehouse fire.

Honorary Daniel V. Capuano Avenue was unveiled Friday afternoon where 106th Street meets Hamlin Avenue. His 16-year-old daughter, Amanda, spearheaded the effort by sending her request directly to Mayor Rahm Emanuel, DNAinfo reported.

"I don't have the words to describe how much it means to us all," Amanda said from a podium while addressing attendees. " ... My hope is that as people drive down our block and see his name on the street signs, they will remember (him as) an amazing husband and father who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the city of Chicago, and that he will never be forgotten."
