Queen of Martyrs First-Graders Bring Joy To Mercy Circle Residents

First-graders cap off a busy year of learning by coloring pictures, playing games with residents of Mercy Circle retirement residence.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — First-graders from Queen of Martyrs School at St. Gianna Molla Church capped off a busy year by visiting residents at Mercy Circle, a continuing care retirement community in Chicago’s Mt. Greenwood neighborhood.

Lisa Gagner’s first grade class visited Mercy Circle on June 5. The youngsters colored pictures as gifts and brought a game to play. They also read a story with each resident.

“The energy and kindness of these children really made everyone’s day,” says Katie Mc Kirdie, life enrichment director at Mercy Circle. “The students and the residents connected immediately. It touched my heart to see them enjoying each other’s company.”
