'Suspicious Person' Tries To Lure Kid To Vehicle In Evergreen Park

A third child-luring attempt in the past month was reported Oct. 16.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Parents were alerted in a Dist. 124 email that was shared with Patch of a third child luring attempt during the after school hours reported within the past month.

Evergreen Park police took a delayed suspicious person report on Friday of an incident that happened earlier in the week on Oct. 16, According to the alert, a girl was walking in the area of 96th Street and Millard Avenue.

The driver of a white transit van stopped and asked the girl if she wanted a ride. She ignored the driver and the van left northbound on Millard.

Police said the driver was described as a younger white male. The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information, please call the Evergreen Park Police Department at 708-422-2144.

During the after school hours of Sept. 24, a man pestered a young girl walking in the area of 103rd and Albany, asking her if she wanted a ride. The girl refused, police said.

A week later, on the afternoon of Oct. 2, a man reportedly approached a girl near 99th Street and Kedzie Avenue and started making inappropriate comments, police said. Moments later, now driving an SUV, he hectored the girl again near 94th Street and Trumbull.
