Evergreen Park 14U All-Stars Headed To Little League Softball World Series In Washington

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Evergreen Park Girls Softball Association 14U All-Stars team is about to embark on a historic journey to the Little League Softball World Series next week in Kirkland, Wash. A junior team from Illinois has only made it once to the softball world series, making the EP team the second to represent Illinois.

The 14U team won the state championship July 9, playing other teams in Illinois. This past weekend, the EP All Stars took the Central Regional Championship in Pendleton, Ind., where they played teams from Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan.

The Evergreen Park Girls Softball Little League is hosting a fundraiser on Zeffy, to help the players and their families get to Kirkland, Wash, for the Little League Softball World Series July 27 to Aug. 2. In Kirkland, the EP 14U All-Stars will be play teams from Italy, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Canada.

“They’ve been fabulous to watch,” said said EPGSL board member Jaimie Kunce. “The younger players come to watch [the All-Stars] play. They’re in awe of them.”
