• ‘Death doula' provides comfort and support to the terminally ill on their final journey (suntimes.com) — A Forest Park woman living with stage-four breast cancer is working with Oak Park death doula Tiffany Johnson to plan her final months and ease the burden on her husband. Their sessions unfold as Illinois prepares to implement a new right-to-die law in 2026, highlighting how end-of-life doulas help families navigate choices, clutter, legacy, and difficult conversations around dying.
   

• CBP covertly filmed Dec. 17 protests with Meta glasses (dailynorthwestern.com) — Border Patrol agents’ use of covert recording tools during December immigration protests in the Chicago area included at least one plainclothes videographer seen walking with agents in Forest Park. Civil liberties advocates warn that hidden smart glasses and unofficial cameras may chill free speech and raise questions about how footage of protesters and bystanders is stored and used.
