Amateur Rib Cook Off Postponed; No Make-Up Date Announced

The event was scheduled for Saturday in downtown Frankfort. Village officials did not yet have a date for when the cook off could return.

FRANKFORT, IL — Backyard barbecuers will have to wait to show off their rib cooking skills because the Village of Frankfort has postponed its annual Amateur Rib Cook Off, which was scheduled for Saturday.

The popular event was postponed "due to circumstances beyond our control," said Village Event Coordinator Sue Lynchey. She said the Village did not yet have a make-up date planned.

If and when a new date is announced, the Village would post that information on its website and Facebook page, Lynchey said.

The event was expected to draw about 10-15 amateur contestants in a battle of the grills to determine who would be the royalty of ribs. There was to be a judges' choice for the winners, and a people's choice for those in attendance who sampled the ribs.

Proceeds from the sale of food were to go to the Frankfort Jaycees, and all proceeds from the sale of beverages were go to the Frankfort Lions Club.
