Car Break-Ins Continue To Plague Frankfort (MAP)
Eight more reports of break-ins involving at least 10 vehicles were made in the past week. Patch charts these incidents since March.

FRANKFORT, IL — Authorities received eight more reports of break-ins involving at least 10 vehicles in the past week. The incidents continue the rash of vehicle break-ins in the village that have spread throughout the south suburbs this spring.
According to the Will County Sheriff's Office, items and money were stolen from two vehicles in separate break-ins May 22. Here's where they happened and what was taken:
- 20000 block of South Acorn Ridge Drive: $60 stolen from the vehicle's center console.
- 20000 block of S. Graceland Lane: a laptop, iPad, sunglasses and $2oo stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
The sheriff's office received four more reports involving six vehicles May 24. Here are the details in those cases:

- 7900 block of West Carrie Court: three vehicles were broken in to, but nothing was stolen.
- 7600 block of West Roeland Court: around $5 in change was stolen from a vehicle.
- 7800 block of West Carrie Court: a wallet was stolen from a vehicle.
- 19000 block of South Edinburgh Lane: a wallet with a credit card and driver’s license was stolen from a vehicle.
Two break-in reports also were made May 30, according to the Frankfort Police Department. The first incident happened at about 7 a.m. in the 21700 block of English Drive and involved multiple unlocked vehicles. Nothing, however, was reported stolen, police said.
The second incident happened at around 9 a.m. in the 8500 block of Stone Creek Boulevard and also involved an unlocked vehicle. In this case, items were stolen from the vehicle, although police did not give details about what was taken.

Since early March, nearly 20 reports of vehicle break-ins, attempted break-ins and car thefts have been received by the Frankfort police and the Will County Sheriff's Office. Tinley Park police also have received reports of unlocked vehicles that were stolen late last month after key fobs were left in the cars. These incidents happened in the same area as a series of car burglaries, according to police.

Frankfort police continues to warn residents about leaving their vehicles unlocked, even when those autos are parked in their driveways or in front of their homes. Authorities also are telling residents not to leave valuables or their keys or key fobs in their vehicles.
Anyone who hears or sees anything out of the ordinary — the slamming of car doors or dogs barking at unusual times — should call 911 or the non-emergency numbers for the Frankfort police (815-485-2500) or the Will County Sheriff's Office (815-727-8575).
