Forest Preserve To Host Trail Moments on the Old Plank Road Trail
The free program is being offered in partnership with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and iHeart Radio.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Will County is hosting a celebration of Old Plank Road Trail and its conversion from rail to trail, and the public is invited to join in on the party.
Trail Moments on the Old Plank is scheduled to take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 17 along Old Plank Road Trail at Breidert Green Park in downtown Frankfort, according to a news release from the Forest Preserve. The event is free and open to all ages, and registration is not required.
The program is being offered in partnership with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and iHeart Radio. There will be family-friendly games and activities for all ages, as well as entertainment from Chicago’s KISS FM.

Attendees will learn more about the trail and its history. They will also explore how regular recreation and trail use can improve overall health and well-being, and keep you connected to family, friends and neighbors.
The Old Plank Road Trail is part of the Great American Rail-Trail, the nation’s first cross-country multi-use trail, according to the Forest Preserve. The trail connects through Illinois on its route between Washington, D.C., and Washington State.
