Franchise Restaurant Plans Move Forward In Frankfort

The new restaurant is planned for Route 30 and Frankfort Square Road.

FRANKFORT, IL — Plans for a popular chain restaurant moved forward after the Frankfort Village Board's Monday meeting. At the meeting, the Board approved a major change to the Cappel Commons planned unit development as well as special use permits for a new Wendy's restaurant.

Trustee Gene Savaria said Wendy's is proposing to construct a 2,085-square-foot restaurant on the vacant .96-acre lot in the Cappel Commons planned unit development at Route 30 and Frankfort Square Road.

"The project requires a major change to the PUD, along with three special use permits," Savaria said. Special use permits were approved for a carry-out restaurant, drive-up service windows and extended hours of operation.

The plans also call for some modifications from Village requirements, including reducing some trash enclosure setbacks along the north and west property line; to allow a walk-up window; waiving a berm requirement; and waiving some landscaping requirements in the parking and drive-thru, according to Board documents.

Hours for the restaurant would be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the dining room and 6 a.m. to midnight for the drive-thru Sunday through Thursday, and 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. for the drive-thru on Friday and Saturday.
