Frankfort Fire, Nicor Investigating Reports Of Smell Of Natural Gas
Residents were reporting the smell Thursday on the west side of the village, and the wind is blowing the odor north toward Tinley Park.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Fire Protection District and Nicor Gas are investigating reports from residents Thursday of a "strong smell" of natural gas on the west side of the Village, according to an alert sent by the Frankfort Police Department.
The smell seems to be coming from a pipeline at or near Scheer Road, southwest of Wolf Road, according to Frankfort FPD Deputy Chief Paul Kinsella.

The wind is carrying the odor in a northerly direction toward Tinley Park, Kinsella said.
There is no danger to the public at this time, and no one is being asked to evacuate the area, Kinsella said.
