FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Park District will kick off its annual July 4th celebration at 7 p.m. on July 4 at Main Park, 400 W. Nebraska St., the park district shared in a news release.
The park will open at 7 p.m., with music and interactive activities by a DJ beginning at 7:30 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase from Frankfort Baseball and Palermo’s. The evening will conclude with a fireworks show at approximately 9:15 p.m., launched at dusk, the park district said.
The fireworks display is sponsored by the Village of Frankfort, Frankfort Firefighters Foundation, and Frankfort Firefighters Local 4338.

"The fireworks have long been a tradition in Frankfort, made possible by the generous financial support of these organizations," said Executive Director Gina Hassett.

Parking will be available at the Puent Building and Frankfort Village Hall on Nebraska Street at the north end of Main Park. A designated handicap parking area is accessible off Locust Street. The parking lots will fill up quickly, the park district said.

Parking is permitted in nearby residential areas as allowed by posted signage. Visitors are encouraged to walk into the park when possible.
"The annual fireworks show is a wonderful community event where friends and families gather to celebrate the holiday. While the show is launched from the Main Park, the fireworks can also be enjoyed from outside the park boundaries," Hassett said in a release.
Families are encouraged to enjoy the community fireworks show at Main Park as a safe and legal alternative to using fireworks at home. The park district reminds guests that no fireworks of any kind (including sparklers), alcohol or smoking are allowed in the park.
Portions of the park are also closed on the 4th of July, as they are part of the fallout zone for the show.
