Frankfort PD To Host Night Out Against Crime Tuesday

FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Police Department is scheduled to host its annual Night Out Against Crime from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Breidert Green in downtown Frankfort.

Families and individuals are encouraged to come out and meet some of Frankfort's finest during this free event meant to strengthen relationships between police and the community, and have a free hot dog while they're at it.

"This event is a great opportunity to meet members of the Frankfort Police Department while enjoying free refreshments, a touch-a-truck program, kids' activities and more," Frankfort Police Chief Leanne Chelepis said during the July 18 Frankfort Village Board of Trustees meeting. "So, we hope to see a lot of Frankfort families and individuals out at our Night Out Against Crime."

The event is free to attend for all ages.

Night Out Against Crime corresponds with National Night Out, a nationwide effort by law enforcement agencies across the country to connect with the communities they serve.

National Night Out began in 1984 through a network of approximately 400 communities across 23 states, according to information on the National Association of Town Watch website. Over the last 38 years, the program has grown to include about 16,000 communities across all 50 states, including 126 communities in Illinois.
